Presto Dbeaver

DBeaver is desktop application. If you are looking for a web-based database management system – please check another of our products: CloudBeaver. It is also open-source and free. DBeaver is an SQL client and a database administration tool. For relational databases it uses the JDBC API to interact with databases via a JDBC driver. For other databases it uses proprietary database drivers. It provides an editor that supports code completion and syntax highlighting. Presto, a powerful distributed in-memory query engine, provides a common SQL Engine for accessing data where it lives whether it be Hadoop, Cassandra, Kafka, MySQL and more. When you export a result set, DBeaver exports the entire result of the query that was executed to populate the result set viewer, not just what is shown. – Kyle Aug 9 '17 at 14:48. It's only about 40,000 records with 5 columns each. The RAM is enough to hold the data. However, DBeaver only shows 200 records.

What is Presto?

Dbeaver

Presto is an open source distributed SQL query engine for running interactive analytic queries against data sources of all sizes ranging from gigabytes to petabytes.

Presto was designed and written from the ground up for interactive analytics and approaches the speed of commercial data warehouses while scaling to the size of organizations like Facebook.

The community owned and driven Presto project is supported by the Presto Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization with open and neutral governance, hosted under the Linux Foundation®.

Presto

What can it do?

Presto allows querying data where it lives, including Hive, Cassandra, relational databases or even proprietary data stores. A single Presto query can combine data from multiple sources, allowing for analytics across your entire organization.

Presto is targeted at analysts who expect response times ranging from sub-second to minutes. Presto breaks the false choice between having fast analytics using an expensive commercial solution or using a slow 'free' solution that requires excessive hardware.

Who uses it?

Facebook uses Presto for interactive queries against several internal data stores, including their 300PB data warehouse. Over 1,000 Facebook employees use Presto daily to run more than 30,000 queries that in total scan over a petabyte each per day.

Fedict others driver download for windows 10. Leading internet companies including Airbnb and Dropbox are using Presto.

Presto is amazing. Lead engineer Andy Kramolisch got it into production in just a few days. It's an order of magnitude faster than Hive in most our use cases. It reads directly from HDFS, so unlike Redshift, there isn't a lot of ETL before you can use it. It just works.

We're really excited about Presto. We're planning on using it to quickly gain insight about the different ways our users use Dropbox, as well as diagnosing problems they encounter along the way. In our tests so far it's been rock solid and extremely fast when applied to some of our most important ad hoc use cases.

The CData JDBC Driver for Presto implements JDBC standards that enable third-party tools to interoperate, from wizards in IDEs to business intelligence tools. This article shows how to connect to Presto data with wizards in DBeaver and browse data in the DBeaver GUI.

Create a JDBC Data Source for Presto Data

Silhouette america driver download. Follow the steps below to load the driver JAR in DBeaver.

  1. Open the DBeaver application and, in the Databases menu, select the Driver Manager option. Click New to open the Create New Driver form.
  2. In the Driver Name box, enter a user-friendly name for the driver.
  3. To add the .jar, click Add File.
  4. In the create new driver dialog that appears, select the cdata.jdbc.presto.jar file, located in the lib subfolder of the installation directory.
  5. Click the Find Class button and select the PrestoDriver class from the results. This will automatically fill the Class Name field at the top of the form. The class name for the driver is cdata.jdbc.presto.PrestoDriver.
  6. Add jdbc:presto: in the URL Template field.

Create a Connection to Presto Data

Follow the steps below to add credentials and other required connection properties.

  1. In the Databases menu, click New Connection.
  2. In the Create new connection wizard that results, select the driver.
  3. On the next page of the wizard, click the driver properties tab.
  4. Enter values for authentication credentials and other properties required to connect to Presto.

Set the Server and Port connection properties to connect, in addition to any authentication properties that may be required.

To enable TLS/SSL, set UseSSL to true.

    Authenticating with LDAP

In order to authenticate with LDAP, set the following connection properties:

    • AuthScheme: Set this to LDAP.
    • User: The username being authenticated with in LDAP.
    • Password: The password associated with the User you are authenticating against LDAP with.

    Authenticating with Kerberos

In order to authenticate with KERBEROS, set the following connection properties:

    • AuthScheme: Set this to KERBEROS.
    • KerberosKDC: The Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC) service used to authenticate the user.
    • KerberosRealm: The Kerberos Realm used to authenticate the user with.
    • KerberosSPN: The Service Principal Name for the Kerberos Domain Controller.
    • KerberosKeytabFile: The Keytab file containing your pairs of Kerberos principals and encrypted keys.
    • User: The user who is authenticating to Kerberos.
    • Password: The password used to authenticate to Kerberos.

    Built-in Connection String Designer

For assistance in constructing the JDBC URL, use the connection string designer built into the Presto JDBC Driver. Either double-click the JAR file or execute the jar file from the command-line.

    java -jar cdata.jdbc.presto.jar

Fill in the connection properties and copy the connection string to the clipboard.

Below is a typical connection string:

    jdbc:presto:Server=127.0.0.1;Port=8080;

Query Presto Data

You can now query information from the tables exposed by the connection: Right-click a Table and then click Edit Table. The data is available on the Data tab.
